Cold Ironing : Study, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of three turnkey OPS

The continuous growth of the maritime industry has significantly increased vessel traffic in ports, leading to major environmental challenges. During berthing operations, ships typically keep their onboard generators running in order to meet their electrical power demands, resulting in increased emissions of CO₂, NOx and particles, as well as noise and vibration pollution that affect both the environment and nearby urban areas. An effective solution to this challenge is provided through Onshore Power Supply (OPS), also widely known as Cold Ironing. This advanced technology enables docked vessels to receive electrical power directly from the shore at the required voltage and frequency, allowing ships to shut down their auxiliary diesel generators while at berth. As a result, ports can significantly reduce emissions, improve air quality, minimize noise pollution and increase sustainable maritime operations. PARALOS, in cooperation with Siemens, combines extensive expertise and proven experience in the successful implementation of OPS/Cold Ironing projects for ports and shipyards. Together, the companies deliver an innovative, efficient and fully standards-compliant solution for the Port of Igoumenitsa. The combined know-how and engineering capabilities of both companies ensure maximum system reliability, full compliance with international regulations and grid operator requirements, as well as the safe, seamless and uninterrupted operation of the complete shore-to-ship power infrastructure.
